Job Description
The individual would oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely salary disbursements. They must ensure compliance with local labour laws and tax regulations, handle tax filings, manage employee benefits, and resolve payroll discrepancies. They also supervise payroll staff, maintain payroll records, and implement payroll policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Implement, maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including wages, salaries, benefits, garnishee orders, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure correct processing of leave and employee benefits and the maintenance of personal files.
- Ensure that all financial capturing and processing is done in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage software and its updates.
- Ensure accurate payroll updates, onboarding of new employees, terminations, job title changes and pay rate changes.
- Monthly reconciliation and submission of PAYE/SDL/UIF EMP201's via EFiling.
- Monthly reconciliation and payment requests for third party payments (Medical Aid/MIBFA/Alexander Forbes/Insurances etc.).
- Bi annual reconciliation and submission of EMP501 via
- Annual reconciliation and submission of COID & EMP501.
- Submission of month end and GL interface files to Finance Department.
- Monthly preparation of various EFT files.
- Ensure compliance with all industrial labour and tax regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function, including preparation, balancing, and internal controls.
- Check time sheets and accuracy of pay calculations.
- Ensure all necessary documents and reports are processed on time.
- Weekly, monthly, and annual reporting to accounting and finance department.
- Leave management - payroll annual and month to month reconciliations.
- Accounting or relevant payroll qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in HR/payroll.
- Solid knowledge and experience with SAGE 300 People.
- Experience with payroll, wages and salaried payroll.
- Tax experience.
- Experience supervising a small payroll team.
- Advanced Microsoft Office experience, including advanced MS Excel.
- Excellent business acumen.
- Excellent soft skills.
