Job Description

A top tier global management consulting firm is seeking a Partner - Energy & Utilities (Strategy) to support the continued growth of its business in South Africa. The firm advises leading organizations across energy, utilities, mining, metals, and natural resources, combining deep strategic insight with strong execution capability.

This Partner will play a key role in strengthening the firm's strategy advisory presence in the South African market, working closely with senior executives to address complex strategic challenges and to support long term value creation. The role is market-facing, with a strong emphasis on executive relationships, client leadership, and practice development.

Scope of Work
  • Advise C suite and Board-level clients on critical strategic topics across energy, utilities, mining, and metals
  • Lead and oversee strategy engagements, including:
    • Corporate and business unit strategy
    • Energy transition and decarbonization strategy
    • Portfolio optimization and capital allocation
    • Growth, diversification, and market entry strategy
  • Develop and expand senior client relationships within the South African market
  • Contribute to the growth of the Energy & Utilities strategy practice, including shaping offerings and market positioning
  • Provide leadership to consulting teams, including mentoring and capability development
  • Collaborate with Partners across geographies and practices to deliver integrated client solutions
Ideal Profile
  • 15+ years of experience in management consulting and/or strategic advisory roles, including senior leadership experience (Partner, Principal, or Director level)
  • Strong strategy consulting background, preferably from a top-tier strategy firm (e.g., MBB or Kearney)
  • Deep sector expertise in energy, utilities, natural resources, mining, or metals
  • Established network and strong client relationships at C suite level within the South African market
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and lead complex, high-impact strategy engagements
  • Credible executive presence, strong commercial judgment, and collaborative leadership style
