Job Description
The Operations QA is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of operational processes across the investor life cycle, including new client onboarding, ongoing due diligence and transaction monitoring.
The role's core focuses include ensuring compliance with Intembeko & various client RMCP's. This role plays a key part in reviewing complex investor transactions, plays a pivotal role in the onboarding process, is responsible for ongoing due diligence actions as well as the review of suspicious/fraudulent transactions.
Main duties and responsibilities Operational Quality Assurance- Review and approval of all high risk /nuanced/complex investor transactions
- Review of potential suspicious and fraudulent transactions
- Perform structured QA reviews on the processing of client instructions, focusing on compliance, due diligence and complex investor transactions.
- Validate adherence to internal policies, procedures, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify control weaknesses and operational risk exposures, liaise with business to solve feedback to stakeholders
- Ensure remediation actions are implemented and tracked.
- Implement quality checks to minimize processing errors relating to DD
- Escalate unresolved issues and operational risks to management timeously
- Ensure compliance with Intembeko & Client RMCP's
- Ensure operational compliance as it relates to South African legislation and regulations, including:
- Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS)
- Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
- Collective Investment Schemes Control Act (CISCA)
- Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Long Term Insurance Act
- Be able to identify changes in the industry, implement best practice and assist in implementing regulatory changes impacting operations.
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving breaches or audit findings.
- Support internal and external audit processes as it relates to FSCA compliance and implementation of RMCP
- Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and manual risk points. Recommend and implement process improvements.
- Contribute to automation and system enhancement initiatives.
- Assist with root cause analysis of operational errors.
- Liaise with multiple clients regarding implantation of RMCP and risk measures
- Investigate operational incidents and errors.
- Perform root cause analysis.
- Maintain error logs and QA registers.
- Monitor trends and recurring issues.
- Escalate material risks appropriately.
- Support and work closely with the operations as well as business and client compliance teams
- Provide feedback to operational teams where gaps are identified.
- 3 years' experience in due diligence and compliance in the asset management and investment administration industry
- Prior exposure to QA, controls testing, or operational risk preferred.
- Strong understanding of the investment operations lifecycle, product rules and the relevant FIC legislation.
- Working knowledge of FAIS, FICA, CISCA, Pension Funds Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, and FSCA directives as it relates to investment operations, investor onboarding, ongoing due diligence, transaction monitoring and suspicious activity monitoring
- Experience in compliance reporting
- Relevant tertiary qualification-BCom (Finance, Accounting, Investment Management, or related field).
