Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client in the automotive manufacturing sector for a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, GIG boards, memory boards, and associated assembly tooling.

The successful candidate will ensure minimal downtime, maintain quality and safety standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives aligned to automotive industry requirements.

Equipment & Tooling Maintenance
  • Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance GIG boards, memory boards, cutting, crimping and testing equipment, and pneumatic and electrical assembly tooling
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults
  • Repair or replace defective components on assembly boards and jigs
  • Ensure GIG board alignment, calibration, and structural integrity
Production Support
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Support production during changeovers and new model introductions
  • Assist in tooling modifications and board updates
  • Work closely with Production and Quality teams to resolve recurring issues
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • Support Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with ISO / IATF automotive standards
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to plant safety standards and lock-out procedures
  • Ensure tooling and boards meet safety and ergonomic standards
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement reviews
Minimum Requirements
  • Trade Tested Artisan (Electrical / Mechanical / Millwright preferred)
    OR
  • N6 / National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years' experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Experience in wire harness manufacturing highly advantageous
Technical Competencies
  • Strong understanding of GIG boards and assembly boards
  • Experience with memory boards
  • Knowledge of assembly jigs and fixtures
  • Pneumatics and basic electrical systems knowledge
  • Mechanical and electrical fault finding
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of crimping machines and cable cutting equipment
  • Tool calibration and alignment
  • Preventative maintenance planning
  • Basic PLC exposure advantageous
  • Understanding of Lean / 5S principles
