Logistics Operations Supervisor - South Africa

CEVA Logistics is seeking an experienced Airfreight Operations Supervisor to oversee daily airfreight operations in South Africa.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support the daily activities of airfreight operations staff (CSV, OPS, and warehouse interfaces).
  • Assign workloads, monitor performance, and ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and training to staff, ensuring adherence to operational procedures and SOPs.
Operational Oversight
  • Manage import and export shipment flows, including pre-alerts, customs clearance, degroup releases, and deliveries.
  • Ensure timely processing of HAWBs, booking confirmations, and milestone updates in tracking systems.
  • Monitor exceptions, delays, and disruptions and implement corrective actions.
  • Liaise with airlines, GHA, clearing agents and transport providers to ensure seamless operations.
Customer Service & Account Support
  • Ensure client requirements are met in line with customer SOPs.
  • Handle escalations, complaints and service recovery to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support key accounts and coordinate with Account Management for service reviews and performance discussions.
Financial & Process Control
  • Ensure accurate billing, accruals and cost capture for shipments.
  • Monitor and minimise write offs, credits and financial discrepancies.
  • Support process improvements and system optimisation initiatives.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
  • Track operational KPIs including on time delivery, customs clearance and SLA adherence.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to management.
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications Education and Experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in airfreight operations, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of airfreight management systems is advantageous.
  • Dangerous Goods awareness/certification is advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of airfreight import and export operations.

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures, airline regulations and shipping documentation.
