Role OverviewThe South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self motivated individual to render quality library services for all SANBI staff, scientists, researchers, students, and the general public in the Mary Gunn Library and Northern gardens. Further, ensure that all library collections in the Mary Gunn Library and the Northern regions are catalogued and classified.
Qualifications- Matric and a national diploma in Information Science/Studies or an equivalent qualification at NQF 6, with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field;
- Degree or equivalent qualification at NQF 7, with 2 years in a library environment and cataloguing library materials.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Experience with computerised library management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and outstanding customer service ethics.
- Problem solving and conflict management.
- Experience in procurement and report writing.
- Organising skills.
- People management skills.
- Experience with software tools (Ms. Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, Outlook).
- Valid driver's licence with at least one year of practical driving experience and willingness to travel.
- Perform administration and support service duties.
- Provide information services and training.
- Create and maintain a bibliographic record of the library collection.
- Attend to marketing and promotion of library services.
- Attend to team members' development and empowerment within the business unit.
