Job Description

Minimum Requirements
  • A Master of Engineering (MEng) or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 9 in Engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering (Light Current), with a specialisation in electronic and computer engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' teaching, professional, or relevant industrial experience in electronic and computer engineering or related engineering disciplines.
  • Must be currently registered for, or willing to immediately register with, the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Additional Recommendations
  • Demonstrable experience in telecommunication engineering, including communication systems, digital and/or analogue communications, signal processing, wireless and mobile communications, networking, RF and microwave systems, or related technologies.
  • Must be currently registered for, or willing to immediately register for and pursue, a doctoral (PhD) qualification in Engineering.
  • Proven research experience, including postgraduate student supervision.
  • Evidence of a recent research publication record in an accredited journal.
Summary of duties
  • Lecture, assess, and supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Take responsibility for a minimum of two (2) modules per semester, in line with the Department's fair workload model.
  • Develop, review, and continuously improve teaching and learning materials, and contribute to or lead curriculum development initiatives.
  • Supervise undergraduate capstone projects as well as postgraduate research projects.
  • Participate in departmental administration and other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or delegated authority.
  • Serve, on a rotational basis, as Chairperson of a subject-level committee.
  • Conduct research and publish in DHET-accredited journals.
