Job Purpose

To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include: teaching according to a set syllabus; undertaking research and innovation; contributing to curriculum development and design; engaging in work integral learning and developing service learning activities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A Master's Degree in Communication Studies or closest related qualification relevant to the teaching of Communication Management/Communication Science (The undergraduate underpinning qualifications must be within the field).
  • Two years of lecturing experience in higher education.
  • Experience in working in strategic/corporate communication management will be an added advantage.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Lecturing subjects within the Media & Communication field
  • Participate in curriculum development, courseware development and assessment
  • Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the Department
  • Participate in the quality assurance activities of the Department
  • Participate in research: managing undergraduate research projects
  • Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into the curriculum
  • Promotion of Community Participation and Linkages
  • Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on cooperative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, committees, programme design and all academic activities
  • Assist with marketing and recruitment activities; contribute to the planning for "Open Day", attend Open Day and provide information on Faculty courses
