JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Perform structural calculations, analysis, and design for steel and concrete structures.
- Develop engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, piping, geotechnical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Review vendor data and ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and design requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, model reviews, and hazard identification/mitigation activities.
- Provide construction support through technical responses to RFIs, site visits, and field engineering guidance.
- Ensure compliance with international engineering codes and standards (SANS, ACI, AISC, Eurocode, etc.).
- Apply value engineering principles to improve constructability, reduce cost, and enhance overall project delivery.
- Support material take offs, cost estimating, and evaluating the impact of design changes.
- Ensure all project records, calculations, drawings, and correspondence are managed according to document control procedures.
- Organize and prioritize multiple engineering tasks while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy.
- Travel to project sites or vendor locations as required.
- Participate in internal training and continuous learning initiatives to support professional development.
- Utilize Knowledge Management systems to enhance the sharing of engineering learnings and best practices.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to team skill development and project execution excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or equivalent project experience.
- Understanding of engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical).
- Scheduling (using tools like MS Project or Primavera P6).
- Knowledge of local building codes and environmental regulations.
- Health & Safety compliance (e.g., ISO 45001, OHS Act).
- 8-15 years of experience.
