Role OverviewThis is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in cyber security who has a strong technical foundation, a genuine passion for information security, and a willingness to learn. As a Junior Cyber Security Analyst at OryxAlign, you will support the day to day security operations of both internal and client environments. You will work closely with senior analysts and engineers to monitor threats, investigate alerts, support incident response activities, and help maintain a strong security posture across multiple systems and platforms. The role offers hands on exposure to modern security technologies, security operations processes, and real world cyber security challenges within a managed services environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor security tools and platforms including SIEM, EDR, antivirus, and email security solutions for suspicious activity
- Investigate and triage security alerts, escalating incidents where appropriate
- Support security incident response activities, including documentation, containment, and remediation tasks
- Assist with vulnerability scanning, reporting, and remediation tracking
- Help maintain and improve security policies, procedures, standards, and documentation
- Support user awareness initiatives such as phishing simulations and security training campaigns
- Assist with identity and access management tasks, including access reviews and account administration
- Analyse logs and system events to identify potential threats or anomalous behaviour
- Support compliance and security audit activities where required
- Keep up to date with emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to support secure operational practices
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Awareness of common cyber threats including phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering
- Understanding of core security principles such as the CIA triad, least privilege, and defence in depth
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow documented processes and maintain accurate records
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in cyber security and technology
- Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, SC 900, or CySA+
- Exposure to security tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Wireshark, Nessus, Defender, or similar platforms
- Basic scripting or automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Previous internship, placement year, home lab, or personal cyber security projects
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and cloud security concepts
- Understanding of managed services or IT support environments
