Junior Chef
Job Description
Incumbent will be reporting to head chef and will be responsible for overseeing duties in the kitchen with day-to-day operations, including food preparation, cooking, menu planning and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Education and Experience required:- Qualification in Culinary Arts studies
- Previous work experience in kitchen and training
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the kitchen
- Strong Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is advantageous
- Hospital experience is advantageous
- Knowledge of special diets
- Matric, grade 12 is essential
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure safe operation
- Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety
- Ability to work effectively as part of a teamStrong attention to detail
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed
