Norman Goodfellows is looking for a Senior Inventory Controller
The Senior Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing the efficient management, accuracy, and security of all liquor stock within the redistribution facility. This role ensures that inventory is received, stored, tracked, and dispatched in compliance with company standards, liquor legislation, and health & safety regulations. The position plays a key role in maintaining stock integrity, preventing losses, and ensuring accurate reporting for operational and financial purposes.
Key Responsibilities 1. Inventory Control & AccuracyMaintain accurate inventory records using the company's warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP system.
Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock takes, reconciling discrepancies immediately.
Ensure all incoming and outgoing stock is captured correctly and timeously.
Monitor product shelf-life, damages, and returns to minimise losses.
2. Receiving & Dispatch ManagementOversee receiving of incoming liquor stock, ensuring correct quantities, product quality, and compliance with delivery documentation.
Coordinate with the dispatch team to ensure orders are picked, packed, and loaded accurately and on schedule.
Ensure proper handling of fragile or high-value liquor items.
3. Compliance & SecurityEnsure compliance with all liquor licensing laws and company policies regarding storage and movement of alcohol.
Implement and maintain security measures to prevent theft, pilferage, and product tampering.
Maintain compliance with health & safety standards in the warehouse.
4. Reporting & AnalysisGenerate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports for management.
Analyse trends in stock movement to forecast demand and optimise ordering.
Investigate and report on variances, stock losses, and operational inefficiencies.
Supervise inventory control staff, including storemen, stock controllers, and cycle count teams.
Provide training on inventory procedures, liquor handling regulations, and system usage.
Manage performance, conduct evaluations, and enforce discipline when required.
Requirements- Matric / Grade 12 (required).
- Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Inventory Management (preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in inventory control, preferably in the liquor, FMCG, or warehousing sector.
- Experience working with WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, or similar).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
