Position Overview

Position Title: Food Service Worker - Grill (Part-Time)

Position Number: PS7-Grill

Position Type: Part Time

Location: Main Campus (Dobson)

Hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, scheduled within that time frame, not exceeding 29 hours per week. Pay: $14.00 per hour.

Job Description - Summary

This position is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving a variety of foods including entrees, vegetables, salads, desserts, and breads. It also serves as a back up cashier. Responsibilities include working the line, cleaning kitchen equipment, sweeping, mopping, keeping the dining area clean and sanitized, and restocking supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of foods, including soups, entrees, vegetables, salads, fruits, and desserts following standardized recipes.
  • Set up food on serving line and steam tables, ensuring high quality sanitation, appearance, and correct temperatures.
  • Operate and clean all kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, steamers, skillets, mixers, choppers, and the 3 compartment sanitizing sink, maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards.
  • Assist with storing food and disposing of excess food appropriately.
  • Stock all front of the house supplies for daily service.
  • Act as a cashier when needed.
  • Restock supplies for the next shift.
  • Perform any work related duties as assigned.
General Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must have the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary, including: Modern methods of preparing menu items, proper cleaning and sanitizing methods, principles of sanitation and kitchen safety, rapid efficiency, following written recipes, converting recipes, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and customer engagement skills. Understanding and commitment to the unique nature and philosophy of the community college system is also required.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of commercial or institutional cooking experience.
Preferred Qualifications

One year experience in food service area.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Must have stamina to stand or walk on hard flooring for long periods.
  • Must withstand a wide range of temperatures.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must have strength to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focusing vision.
  • Work with chemical cleaning agents, kitchen utensils, cooking grills, and risk of fumes, electrical shock, burns, and lacerations.
  • Must adhere to all uses of personal protective equipment.
  • May occasionally work outside and moderate noise level.
