Job Description

Inherent requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and a member of the South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing (SASOHN) Practitioners
  • Certificates in Dispensing, Audiometry, and Spirometry
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply safety procedures and manuals
  • Good report writing and communication skills
  • Solid numerical and problem-solving ability
  • Able to interpret instructions in various formats (written, verbal, diagrams, and schedules)
  • Detail-oriented, with strong multitasking and interpersonal skills
  • Willing and able to travel to different company sites
  • Computer literacy (intermediate)
  • Good communication skills in English (both verbal and written)
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ensure medical assessments are conducted professionally and in line with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain high levels of client satisfaction and address queries promptly and professionally
  • Manage clinic operations within the approved budget framework
  • Ensure adequate staffing, stock levels, and availability of locums across clinics
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and ensure adherence to professional and legal standards
  • Compile and submit monthly medical surveillance and operational reports to clients and management
  • Liaise with head office to ensure effective operational support
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements and company requirements
  • Conduct regular and ad hoc clinic visits, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and quality standards
  • Coordinate staff training, identify skills gaps, and manage performance appraisals and developmentOversee staff time, attendance, leave, and disciplinary processes in line with company policies
  • Ensure accurate submission of financial and administrative documentation, including petty cash, invoices, and timesheets
  • Manage regional budgets, expenses, and profit and loss performance
  • Maintain effective client relationships, conduct regular client meetings, and support business development initiatives
  • Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated, and compliant with relevant legislation
  • Oversee clinical governance, ensuring nurses operate within scope of practice and legal requirements
  • Support and coordinate special projects, including health campaigns and occupational health initiatives
  • Monitor clinic systems, including filing, reporting, stock control, and drug registers
  • Implement and manage health programmes, including medical surveillance, chronic disease management, and infection control
  • Track and analyse health trends, injuries on duty, and absenteeism, and implement corrective actions
  • Provide primary healthcare, emergency care, and referrals when required
  • Deliver health education and promote workplace wellness programmes
  • Ensure accurate data capturing, record keeping, and reporting in line with company standards
  • Perform any additional duties as required by management
