Position Summary

The Fares and Systems Expert is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring precise fare management, seamless ticketing, and optimal system performance. This position demands advanced expertise in airline fare rules, mastery of Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and the ability to support both internal teams and clients with complex travel requirements.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply airline fare rules, restrictions, and policies.
  • Work across multiple GDS platforms ( Amadeus; Travelport, Sabre), airline direct channels, NDC content, and consolidators to identify fare options.
  • Issue tickets accurately using GDS platforms (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, Travelport).
  • Manage reissues and exchanges, recalculating fares and applying penalties correctly.
  • Process refunds in line with airline and IATA regulations.
  • Operate and troubleshoot GDS platforms (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo).
  • Train staff on efficient use of booking systems and fare search tools.
  • Provide guidance to reservations and ticketing teams on fare-related queries, reissues, and refunds.
  • Ensure compliance with IATA regulations and airline policies.
  • Global Distribution Systems (GDS): Expert-level command of fare search, pricing, and ticket issuance.
  • NDC (New Distribution Capability): Leverage direct airline content not always available in GDS.
  • Conduct quality control checks across all operational activities: Daily Q's; Reports; Duty of Care Reports; HX Reports; Client Reference Fields Reports; Daily MIR Report; Daily fee mis-match report
  • Ensure consultants adhere to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Investigate customer complaints (e.g., email trails, PNR checks) and follow through to resolution.

Required Qualifications
  • 10 -12 years' experience in travel industry
  • High level of experience in airline fares, rule application, ticketing and re-issuing of tickets
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
