Job Summary: 
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, South Africas leading electricity utility, is seeking a dedicated and reliable General Worker - Distribution Maintenance to join our Distribution Maintenance team. The successful candidate will support daily operations, ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of Eskoms electrical distribution networks. This role involves physical labor, assisting skilled technicians, and performing tasks that contribute to maintaining a reliable electricity supply to communities and industries across the region.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist maintenance teams in the installation, repair, and upkeep of electrical distribution systems.
- Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
- Conduct basic site preparation and clearing for maintenance activities.
- Transport materials and equipment to work sites as required.
- Ensure compliance with Eskoms safety protocols and industry regulations at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work sites and storage areas.
- Report faults, hazards, or incidents promptly to supervisors.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors to support operational efficiency.
- Educational Qualification: Minimum Grade 10 / Standard 8 or equivalent; further technical training is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems is beneficial.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under supervision.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to occupational health standards.
- Previous experience in a maintenance or labor-intensive role is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience in electrical distribution environments or construction-related work is highly valued.
- Standard full-time hours with potential for overtime as required.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends or after-hours, depending on operational demands.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures consistently.
- Basic problem-solving skills to assist in maintenance tasks.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Capacity to operate simple machinery or tools under guidance.
