Employment Lawyer - Interpath (Cape Town, South Africa)

Interpath is an international, fast-growing advisory business delivering tangible results for global businesses, investors, and stakeholders when complex problems arise. We are expanding our legal capability and are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Employment Lawyer to join our Cape Town team at the Associate Director level. This role offers exposure to strategic corporate development projects, acquisitions & transactions and high profile employee relations matters within a dynamic and collaborative environment.


Responsibilities

The role will support strategic growth opportunities including acquisitions, senior level hiring and new market entries. You will identify and manage employment, regulatory and reputational risks, ensuring advice is legally robust and aligned to best practice, while providing pragmatic employment law advice across a range of employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, workplace disputes and exits. The role will also instruct and manage external legal counsel across all employment related matters.


Education and Experience Required

  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with approximately 5+ years' post qualification experience in employment and labour law, including exposure to workforce restructures, transactions, organisational transformation and employee relations matters.

  • Experience gained in private practice, in house or a professional services/advisory environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of UK employment law matters including employee relations, acquisitions, restructures and litigation.

  • Experience supporting workforce change projects, transactions or organisational transformation activity.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at senior level.

  • A pragmatic and commercial mindset with strong problem solving capability.

  • The ability to manage and prioritise multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial approach with a genuine interest in building relationships and contributing to growth.
