A well-established financial services company is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Consultant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This advisory role focuses on managing the full spectrum of death, disability, and funeral claims, ensuring compliance with legislation and company standards. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on employee benefits products and engaging at a strategic level - not in an administrative support capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional advice to clients in line with the FAIS Act and company policies.
  • Manage and service a portfolio of employee benefit clients, ensuring high levels of client retention and satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present reports and meeting packs to employer forums and trustee boards.
  • Oversee claims management for death, disability, and funeral benefits, ensuring timely resolution and compliance.
  • Liaise with insurers and stakeholders to facilitate underwriting, claims, and benefit payments.
  • Conduct annual benefit reviews, benchmarking, and risk re-brokes for clients.
  • Support client communication and member engagement strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with fund governance, section 14 transfers, and trustee requirements.
  • Contribute to new business development and assist in mergers, acquisitions, and client conversions.
  • Stay informed of legislative and market changes and communicate updates internally and to clients.
  • Manage and mentor support staff within the consulting division.
Requirements
  • Membership of a Professional Body (e.g. FPI) would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years' working experience in similar environment
  • 3-5 years' Employee Benefits Consulting Experience
  • Strong knowledge of Employee Benefit industry
  • Strong knowledge of Pension Funds, FAIS and related Legislation
  • Compliance and governance of Pension Fund Structures
  • Good understanding and interpretation of Pension funds, FAIS and related Legislation
  • Financial Advisory knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Retirement Fund Law
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel Advanced, PowerPoint, Outlook)
