Reporting to: Operations Manager & Despatch Manager

SPEC-Africa requires a highly experienced Driver with a valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) to support operational transportation requirements by safely and efficiently transporting staff, materials, goods, and documentation as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries and collections, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies, completing vehicle inspection reports, and managing route planning to ensure cost-effective and efficient travel. Strong time management, reliability, and a high standard of driving safety are essential for this role.

• Receive instructions from Transport & Fleet Controller
• Responsible for stock/material while in transit
• Must be present while loading trucks - ensure material corresponds with Invoice / Delivery Note
• Ensure safe loading of truck, no overloading of vehicles (tonnage)
• Ensure that all necessary paperwork accompany the load at all times (Delivery notes, SRV's, Invoices etc.) and reach the correct contact person or department
• Responsible for maintenance and daily checklist
• Preventative maintenance and daily checklist
• Driver to communicate with Transport & Fleet Controller regarding service intervals and maintenance
• Ensure trip sheets are completed at all times
• It is the driver's responsibility to be prepared for all trips and ensure they have the necessary information regarding each trip
• Report any deviances and unsafe conditions to the Transport and Fleet Supervisor
• Ensure truck is clean and tidy at all times
• Ensure safety of loads and fellow employees
• Comply with Company policies and procedures
• No risk or damage to goods, material or vehicles
• Have competency certificate / license present at all times

It is the responsibility of the driver to renew his PDP

• Literacy
• English, Afrikaans, Xhosa / other language
• Training and License for truck - competency certificate
• Training in preventative maintenance and daily checks of vehicle
• Product Knowledge

Is to ensure safe and correct loading truck

• Goods and materials transported and delivered in time, at the correct sites and without incidents
• Adherence to Management Instruction
• No incidents of risk. Damage to machine and/or goods and material
• Maintenance of vehicle on a daily basis
• Compliance to company policy and procedures
