Job Overview: Frontshop Assistant at Dis-Chem

As a Frontshop Assistant, your main responsibility is to ensure shelves are fully stocked, products are neatly displayed, and customers receive excellent service at all times.

You will work directly on the shop floor and at the point of sale, assisting customers while maintaining store standards according to Dis-Chem policies.

Key Responsibilities

As a Dis-Chem Shop Assistant, your daily duties will include:

Merchandising and Stock Control
  • Monitor product expiry dates and remove expired items
  • Report low, damaged, or out-of-stock items to management
  • Assist with stocktaking and inventory counts
Customer Service
  • Assist customers with product queries and recommendations
  • Handle out-of-stock requests and follow up promptly
  • Maintain a friendly, helpful, and professional attitude
  • Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments
Point of Sale Duties
  • Process payments (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons)
  • Handle returns and exchanges when authorised
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and daily balancing
  • Process loyalty cards and partner programmes
Store Maintenance
  • Keep shelves, displays, and storerooms clean and organised
  • Ensure correct pricing and labels on all products
  • Follow health and safety standards at all times
  • Assist with loading and offloading stock
Skills and Competencies Required

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Basic numeracy skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Working Conditions

This is a retail-based role, meaning:
