Job Primary Purpose

The main purpose of this job is to strategically support learning by equipping hospitality and tourism students with comprehensive operational and technical skills. The incumbent must understand that teaching and learning will revolve around three major operational aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry: rooms division, food and beverage, and kitchen practice. The integration of theory and practice is one of the fundamental principles in the professional preparation of hospitality students.

Key Performance Areas
  • Provide strategic direction in relation to the hotel and catering services at UMP.
  • Develop and promote collaboration and linkages with the industry partners and other relevant partners.
  • Direct strategically, financial resources to the hotel and catering services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Direct strategically the marketing of the hotel and catering services.
  • Master's degree in hospitality management or equivalent.
  • 10 years of complex hotel and catering services experience, with at least 3 years of management experience.
  • 5 years of specialist experience in hotel and catering services.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Creative mindset with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle pressure and multitask.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • The ability to function effectively in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
