Role Clarification & Key Performance AreasThe Faculty of Dentistry is a world-class Oral Health Centre committed to the promotion of oral health through excellence of its Teaching & Learning, service rendering and research. The Faculty seeks professionally qualified candidates with excellent credentials for a post on the joint establishment of the University of the Western Cape and the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, on the conditions of service of the University of the Western Cape.
Responsibilities will include:- Teaching and training on the combined platform i.e. Appropriate training, supervision and general teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students,
- Input with the postgraduate programme,
- Rendering service to patients at all service platforms,
- Active participation in research and publications,
- Participation in Faculty Outreach programmes,
- Administrative duties related to the post, including Faculty Committee representation.
- Experience in treatment of patients with disabilities (physical and mental) on the combined platform,
- Experience in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students,
- Ability to work in a team,
- Good interpersonal and communication skills,
- Language proficiency in at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape.
- A MSc / PGDip qualification in either Clinical Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics or Community Dentistry.
- At least 3- 5 years clinical experience,
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dentist,
- Experience in undergraduate teaching and training,
- Evidence of research activities (conference attendance and publications)
The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
