DescriptionFor more than 20 years, Globeleq has been a long term investor, developer, owner and operator of diversified power projects in Africa, where the company is one of the largest Independent Power Producers. With nearly 1500MW of generation capacity in operation across 16 power plants in 7 countries, 488MW of new power projects in construction and >2,000MW in development, Globeleq is one of the largest independent power producers solely focused in Africa. Globeleq is 70% owned by British International Investment and 30% by Norfund, the development finance institutions of the UK and Norway, and has a proven track record for supporting the ongoing development of the African power sector.
Globeleq's various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), hydro and geothermal.
Globeleq is driving a Data Transformation initiative to centralise divisional data into a single source of truth, standardise data flows, and enable automation, integration, and strategic business insights across the organisation. The Data Analytics Graduate will play a hybrid role bridging Data Engineering and Performance Analytics, supporting both the development of sustainable data pipelines and the generation of clean, reliable datasets for deeper analysis of plant performance. This role provides hands on exposure to the full data lifecycle (collection, storage, processing, validation, and visualisation) while strategically reinforcing Globeleq's Graduate Programme goals of practical experience, mentorship, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Support data ingestion and automation processes (SQL, APIs, ETL workflows, and report automation).
- Assist in building and maintaining sustainable data pipelines into the central data warehouse and analytics environment.
- Collaborate with Performance Analytics (ROC) to generate clean datasets and reusable models for plant performance analysis.
- Contribute to monitoring and improving site-level performance, availability, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with audit and risk aligned standards.
- Support reporting and visualisation projects, enabling strategic insights for operational and commercial decision making.
- Assist in exploring future AI/ML use cases for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Engage in cross functional projects to strengthen integration between data engineering and performance analytics.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proficiency or familiarity with SQL, Python, or other data tools.
- Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Innovative mindset with a passion for data driven insights.
- Recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.
- Interest in data engineering, analytics, and renewable energy applications.
- Familiarity with data pipelines, APIs, and reporting tools is advantageous.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Prior internship or project experience in data analytics or engineering is desirable but not required.
