Community Liaison Officer

To act as a vital link between the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex (UIC) and the local community to foster collaboration, build trust, maintain proper open communication and ensure that community needs, concerns and expectations are understood and addressed. Ensures that all stakeholders are conversant with the emergency procedures.

• Represents the Company, engage with local communities and stakeholders (Traditional, Authorities and Local Counsellors), handle feedback and issues and report to Management
• Maintains and facilitates effective communication channels between the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex (UIC) and surrounding communities
• Responsible for Site SHE Report and ensures that it is published on time
• Responds to Environmental complaints by participating in external investigations
• Manages the Environmental hotline
• Maintains contact and good relationship with the local newspaper
• Arrange and plan Stakeholder Meetings (Interested and Affected Parties), where needed, undertakes translation for non-English speakers
• Act as a Champion for Corporate Social Investment initiatives
• Achieve Company SHE targets
• Establish and sustains strong relationship between Umbogintwini Industrial Complex, Stakeholder and surrounding communities
• Ensures that all stakeholders are conversant with emergency procedures

• Matric qualification or equivalent
• B degree in Communication or Public Relations or equivalent
• 3-5 years experience in a similar role
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem-solving
• Analytical
• Ability to work under pressure
• Delivering results and meeting customer expectations
