COMMUNICATION OFFICER (Contractual Position: Linked to term of the current Council) REQUIREMENTS
  • Relevant NQF level 6 qualification in communication, media studies, marketing, journalism or related field;
  • 3 years relevant experience;
  • Code B driving license;
  • Strong verbal and writing skills with the ability to adapt writing styles for various mediums and audiences;
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and demonstrate a proactive approach to tasks;
  • Experience in working with social media is advantageous;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in at least two of the official languages in Kouga Municipality (Afrikaans, English, and Xhosa).

Salary: R.13 Total Cost to Company

DUTIES
  • Design and create visually appealing communication materials, including newspaper adverts, flyers, pamphlets, brochures, newsletters, and other promotional items;
  • Capture and edit high-quality photographs and videos for use in various communication channels;
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to enhance the municipality's online presence;
  • Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and branding;
  • Write articles, press releases, and other written content for various mediums, maintaining accuracy and professionalism;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure accurate communication of projects and initiatives;
  • Work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Proactively contribute creative ideas and solutions to communication challenges.
DISQUALIFICATION
  • Canvassing of councillors.
  • Submission of fraudulent qualifications and/or documents.

Preference will be given to applicants residing within the Kouga area of jurisdiction.
