Location: South Africa Imperium Commodity Search is retained by a cross-asset agricultural commodity trading house, headquartered in Dubai and seeking sales-side expansion in regional centres across the African markets. The company is experienced in the trading of Grains, Edible Oils, Oilseeds and Fertilizers across the Black Sea, Mediterranean, Middle East with exclusive supply side/procurement relationships in Eastern Europe. This company was founded by 3 seasoned professionals, possessing a wealth of experience with major agricultural trading houses, who applied their excellent network and fundamental understanding to build this rapidly growing trading company.
With a distinctive payout structure and serious upside potential, our client offers a direct payout on tonnage with a clear and transparent commission scheme; a fresh approach to the more typical discretionary and opaque bonus structures the agri market has grown accustomed to.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Agricultural Commodities Trader with a focus on regional and local markets who can identify and execute trade opportunities in Africa and beyond, working closely with local buyers to optimize sales strategies for agricultural commodities (in grains, oilseeds, edible oils, fertilizer etc.)
You will be:
- Building and Maintaining relationships with local processors and buyers, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain across the grain space
- Keeping track of local and regional market trends, including crop yields, pricing, supply-demand dynamics, and relevant regulatory updates
- Negotiating sales contracts for agricultural products, securing optimal terms that align with the company's profitability goals
- Developing a network of logistics and transport providers to ensure efficient, cost-effective movement of goods
- Analysing market data and provide insights to support decision-making in pricing, purchasing, and sales strategies
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies
We would love to speak to you if you have:
- 3-5+ Years' Experience in a trading or sales position within physical grains/agricultural products (corn, grains, oilseeds, edible oils, wheat, etc.)
- Strong experience in the trading of agricultural products, with a strong understanding of regional market dynamics
- High-level negotiation and communication skills, with a track record of successful contract negotiations
- Proficiency in using market analysis tools, and an ability to translate insights into trading strategies
- A strong reputation in the market
- An existing network within the local agricultural market
- Fluency in English
