Engineered Sourcing is seeking a dynamic and commercially-minded Business Developer to join a leading player in the renewable energy sector. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, driving the sales of turnkey solar solutions, and managing the full sales cycle from lead generation to project handover. A core focus of this role involves utilising financial modelling to present compelling investment cases to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Opportunity Generation: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the solar PV and renewable energy sectors.
  • Sales Execution: Drive sales for rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid turnkey solar solutions.
  • Financial Modelling & Analysis: Prepare and present complex financial models, proposals, and tenders to demonstrate project viability and ROI.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with clients, EPCs, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct continuous market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations and close deals to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of proven business development, project manager or sales experience specifically within the solar/renewable energy industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar PV systems, PPAs, and integrated energy solutions.
  • Financial Acumen: Advanced skills in financial modelling, deal structuring, and ROI analysis.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Mobility: Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel as required
Advantageous Skills
  • Project Scope: Experience with Commercial & Industrial (C&I) or utility-scale solar projects.
  • Industry Network: An established network within the South African energy sector.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with grid connection processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Technology: Knowledge of energy storage systems and hybrid solar solutions.
