Description

Our client, operating in the Logistics Industry and based in Kaalfontein, Gauteng; is currently looking to employ an Assistant to the Depot Manager.

This is a hands-on role focused on operational coordination, vehicle control, planning execution, stock accuracy, driver support, and service delivery. It is also a strong growth opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in logistics management.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 07h00 - 17h00
  • Alternate Weekends:
    • Saturday: 07h00 - 12h00
    • Sunday: 07h00 - 12h00
  • Closed over Easter Weekend
  • Skeleton staff over Christmas period

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' experience in logistics, transport, operations, or administration
  • Matric
  • Exposure to logistics or fleet operations
  • Stock control / inventory experience
  • Vehicle yard or depot experience
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow into management
  • Good computer literacy
  • Reliable transport
  • Valid Drivers License

Responsibilities:

Operational Support

  • Assist the Depot Manager with daily depot operations
  • Support control of drivers and fleet activities
  • Ensure smooth execution of logistics workflows

Planning and Dispatch Coordination

  • Liaise with planners, drivers, and yard teams
  • Ensure loads are prepared correctly
  • Ensure vehicles are ready for dispatch
  • Help prevent delays and disruptions

Inventory Control and Vehicle Tracking

  • Maintain accurate control of yard vehicles and storage stock
  • Conduct stock takes and reconciliations
  • Ensure system records match physical vehicle counts
  • Monitor movement and location of stored vehicles

Performance Monitoring

  • Track driver productivity and delivery performance
  • Monitor daily targets and report variances
  • Support operational efficiency improvements

Compliance and Process Control

  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and client requirements
  • Assist with documentation checks and load readiness
  • Ensure operational accuracy and control standards

Problem Solving

  • Identify operational issues early
  • Escalate risks to Depot Manager
  • Assist with resolving delays, breakdowns, and driver matters

Administration

  • Assist with reports, records, and operational admin
  • Maintain accurate depot documentation
