ROLE SUMMARY The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. They can function as either a shift leader or as support to the Registered Nurse (RN). The EN plays a pivotal role in managing the nursing team to ensure that each patient is always treated with dignity and respect. The EN ensures that the patient is in a safe environment and that their individual needs are addressed, thereby delivering high-quality mental health care and physical health care to patients within Akeso Clinics. The EN always has knowledge and skills to confidently role-model a high standard of nursing practice. The Enrolled Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, care and meeting of patient needs and will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate programmes of care to ensure high-quality patient care.Job Summary The Akeso Enrolled Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a mental health facility, supporting the multi-disciplinary team and ensuring adherence to Netcare's high standards of quality and patient safety. Job Responsibilities Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners, observing and reporting on patient responses. Monitor and record vital signs, physical and mental health status, and other relevant patient data. Assist with the development and implementation of individualised patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding their condition and treatment. Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with Netcare policies. Participate in therapeutic group activities and individual counselling sessions as required. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, identifying and escalating any risks. Adhere to all legislative frameworks, Netcare policies, and professional nursing ethics. Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in continuous professional development and training. Job Qualifications Valid Enrolled Nurse qualification (e.g., Diploma in Enrolled Nursing). Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse. Previous experience in a mental health setting is highly advantageous. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health conditions and their management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Basic computer literacy.
