ROLE SUMMARY The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary (ENA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that each patient is treated with dignity and respect at all times. The ENA ensures that the patient is in a safe environment, and that their individual needs are addressed, thereby delivering high-quality mental health and physical health care to patients within the Akeso Clinic. The ENA has knowledge, skills, attitude, and role models a high-standard practice at all times. The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes caring for the patient, his possessions, documentation and the control and economical use of stock and equipment in the ward.Job Summary The Akeso Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary provides essential nursing care and support to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment within a Netcare mental health facility. Job Responsibilities Assist registered nurses with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Monitor and record vital signs, intake, and output, and report any changes in patient condition to the registered nurse. Assist patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and toileting. Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linen and tidying rooms. Observe and report patient behaviour and mental state to the nursing team. Assist with group activities and therapeutic interventions as directed by the nursing staff. Administer medication under direct supervision and as per Netcare policies and procedures. Ensure patient comfort and safety, including fall prevention and infection control measures. Document all care provided accurately and timely in patient records. Adhere to all Netcare policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines. Job Qualifications Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary qualification recognized by the South African Nursing Council (SANC). Current registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary. Previous experience in a mental health setting is highly advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Empathy and compassion towards patients. Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
