Acting Appointment - Head of Department, Foundation Phase (Mowbray) and Head of Department, Foundation Phase (Wellington Campus), Faculty of Education (Contract ending 30 September 2026)(Internal within the Faculty of Education) - (8641) Job Purpose
  • The Head of Department must take a leadership role within the Foundation Phase Department(s) for managing, leading and providing direction to a team of academics and support staff.
  • Management of the department as a member of the Faculty Executive.
  • Ensure that the Departmental and Faculty strategic goals are realized in line with the institutional strategic goals.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Doctoral degree relevant to Foundation Phase Teaching for the Acting Rotational HOD in the Department of Foundation Phase Department
  • A relevant Doctoral degree relevant to the Intermediate Phase Teaching for the Acting Rotational HOD in the Department of Intermediate Phase Department
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • At least five (5) years' relevant teaching experience in Higher Education of which 3 years must be at Senior Lecturer level with evidence of academic managerial experience and mentorship
  • Experience in research and postgraduate supervision
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Knowledge of the HEQSF processes
  • Proven evidence of leadership qualities
  • Experience in financial management and budgeting
