Job Summary

The Able Seaman (AB) is a key member of the deck department responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the vessel. This role supports navigational watches, mooring operations, and general deck duties while ensuring safety procedures and maritime regulations are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with navigation and lookout duties during watchkeeping
  • Perform mooring, anchoring, and unmooring operations
  • Maintain decks, hull, equipment, and safety gear (cleaning, painting, polishing, rust removal)
  • Operate deck machinery and equipment safely
  • Assist during emergency drills and real emergencies (fire, abandon ship, man overboard)
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company procedures
  • Support the Bosun and deck officers with daily tasks and special projects
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe, and organized
Requirements & Qualifications
  • STCW certification (Basic Safety Training)
  • Seafarers Medical Certificate
  • Previous seagoing experience in a deck role preferred
  • Knowledge of maritime safety procedures and equipment
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Strong teamwork, discipline, and communication skills
