3rd Line Network Support Engineer (Wireless ISP Experience Required)

Remote (South Africa-based) Seasonal Role (March - November) with Option for Contract-Perm
Salary: R PM
Hours: March - October: 12hr shifts, 4 on/4 off, 8am - 8pm. Off-season: project work & maintenance.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Wireless ISP Network Engineer to join our support team, ensuring the stability and performance of customer networks. You will handle 3rd line support, troubleshoot Wi Fi, PtP, and WAN networks, monitor performance, and ensure uptime. During the off season, you will focus on network upgrades, maintenance, and assisting field engineers in improving network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
  • Support & troubleshoot wireless networks (WAN, LAN, WLAN, PtP, PtMP).
  • Diagnose & resolve customer connectivity issues (RADIUS, billing, authentication).
  • Configure & maintain guest access portals, authentication services, and network monitoring.
  • Identify & resolve recurring network issues, improving performance & stability.
  • Work on Wi Fi network design, installations, structured cabling, and radio links.
  • Act as escalation point for site operator issues & major network incidents.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with field teams.
  • Provide on call support as needed.
What You Need
  • 5+ years' experience in a Wireless ISP or MSP network support environment.
  • Strong expertise in Wi Fi, PtP/PtMP radio links, structured cabling, and network architecture.
  • Hands on experience with Cambium, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, and Draytek.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, VPNs, and subnetting.
  • Experience with Wi Fi surveys & network monitoring tools (PRTG, NMS, The Dude, etc.).
  • Relevant certifications preferred (CWNA, CCNA, Network+, Ekahau Design or similar).
  • Good skills in Excel & automation for reporting and troubleshooting.
