The SAE Institute, Cape Town Campus, is looking for an Animation Lecturer to facilitate learning for the Motion Graphics and Visual Effects /2D programmes, with a focus on practical application, theoretical frameworks, workflow and technique.
Responsibilities- Mentor students, conduct consultations and facilitate learning opportunities.
- Research relevant content in order to develop learning material and lesson plans.
- Evaluation, moderation, invigilation and assessment of learning.
- Keep accurate records of evidence (e.g. attendance, assessment results).
- Adhere to SAE policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the HOA.
- A Master's Degree is preferable.
- A PGCHE is advantageous.
- The successful candidate must show evidence of good subject- and discipline-related skills and be able to facilitate the range of learning required within the subject of 2D animation.
- Substantial experience in the field of 2D animation. (Min. 3 years).
- Facilitation of learning experience (Advantageous)
- Proficient with industry-standard equipment and software including Toonboom, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Classroom management and workshop facilitation skills: A minimum of two years' recent experience in an academic or training environment preferred.
- Be able to execute and facilitate the normal day-to-day demands of lecturing, lesson planning, delivery, assessment, administration, student support and review.
- Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, administration skills, be highly organised and possess good time management skills.
- Ability to develop and conduct appropriate practical and theoretical assessments as well as teaching and learning materials pertinent to modules.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- The ideal candidate would also be expected to exhibit a sound understanding of narrative and storyboard practice, as well as concept art.
- Collaborative and willing to work with fellow lecturers and the HOA to support students.
- Must have rights to live and work in South Africa
