PURPOSE:
Bench Carpenters/Woodworkers at D&P are an integral part of a team in a Shop environment creating custom cabinetry and special projects for museums and other highly visited public institutions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carpenter - Journeyman and Advanced Skills
• Work with D&P team members to create custom projects.
• Translate assignments received with detailed drawings into a physical product.
• Work effectively and efficiently to meet the project time line and high quality that D&P is known for in the industry.
• Experience with Cold Saws, Band Saw, Drill Press, Shear, and basic hand tools.
• Communicate and work effectively and safely with team members, Project Managers, Detailers.

Qualifications
• Journeyman Level: Up to four years’ experience in a Shop environment using typical power equipment, tools and methods with experience as a cabinet maker and/or exhibit fabricator.
• Seasoned: Five or more years’ experience and able to craft cabinets from blueprints.
• Possession of personal hand tools
• Ability to efficiently and accurately shape and assemble components into exhibits from information contained in the shop drawings and experience.
• Ability to interpret and work from sketches and detailed drawings.

Meadors Inc. is seeking a skilled Bench Carpenter to join our Cabinetry & Millwork Workshop. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in custom architectural millwork and cabinetry, with a proven ability to take projects from raw material through to finished installation-quality products. This is a shop-based position located at our Charleston, SC headquarters, where the Bench Carpenter will produce high-end, custom millwork and cabinetry for a variety of projects—both for internal Meadors projects and for clients and companies outside of Meadors.
This role involves close collaboration with our in-house architecture and design teams to realize project specifications, and it includes the responsibility of working directly with and training a helper. Strong craftsmanship, communication, and mentorship skills are essential.

Qualifications
• Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings and architectural plans, and carry projects from raw material to finished goods at the highest standards of quality
• Proficient in the setup, operation, and maintenance of woodworking machinery, including but not limited to:

Duties
• Fabricate exhibit components as per provided production drawings
• Perform take-offs and make cut lists from drawings
• Assembly, sand and prep for finishing
• Laminating experience preferred but not required (we will train)
