Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with four design and construction companies - Beca, WSP, Downer New Zealand and Fulton Hogan. The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial - Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, NZ Upgrade Programme - Queenstown Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.This exciting and challenging programme of work aims to improve safety and accessibility, enable an improved public transport system, provide more options for walking and cycling, and benefit the community and its visitors.With delivery across Tāhuna Queenstown, each project involves upgrading underground infrastructure followed by enhancing the street to make a safer and more inviting environment for pedestrians, cyclists and people using public transport - all part of building the Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan.For more information visit Kā Huanui a Tāhuna (qldc.govt.nz)Join Fulton Hogan and be part of an experienced team delivering major civil infrastructure upgrades across Tāhuna - Queenstown. This role is based on the Howards Drive Project, running until the end of 2027. You will be a strong Zone Manager who is read to lead with impact and help shape the future of this project. In this role, you'll take ownership across Planning, Delivery, Compliance, Quality, Leadership, Risk Management, and financial performance - playing a key role in lifting outcomes and driving innovation.Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will take full ownership of delivering a key section of this major project . This role calls for a leader with energy, technical expertise, and the ability to be hands on - guiding teams through complex construction activities while coaching and mentoring staff across a range of technical disciplines. You will ensure work is delivered on time, to budget, and to an exceptional standard of quality.You bring proven experience on large scale civil construction projects and a solid understanding of NZS 3910 and the Construction Contracts Act. Your track record shows consistent success in delivering projects safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental, social, and quality expectations. With strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage staff and subcontractors, you also have a natural talent for building trusted, productive relationships with clients and stakeholders. We're looking for someone with: BE, NZCE or a Diploma in Civil Engineering minimum Level 7 NZQF Have 10 years+ experience as a discipline, zone or project manager Strong understanding of construction methodologies, staging and interfaces on multi-disciplinary sites Experience planning and delivering work fronts to tight programmes, including short-term look-ahead planning Ability to lead and manage site teams, including supervisors, leading hands and work crews Experience managing subcontractors for safety, quality, productivity and compliance Solid knowledge of HSE legislation, site safety systems and safe work practices Experience with quality management, inspection and test plans, and defect close-out Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced site environment Competence with construction software and digital tools e.g. MS Project, Primavera, CCS Experience with progress reporting, productivity tracking and supporting cost/variation management Good Work equals Good Benefits Company Vehicle Medical insurance for you and your whānau.
