Job Title: Wings Policy and Advocacy Coordinator
Location: Fully Remote (Global)
Contract Type: Consultant (Initial 12 months, with potential for extension)
Level of Effort: Approximately 40 hours per week

Job Overview

The WINGS Policy and Advocacy Coordinator will serve as a key contributor to the organization's policy and advocacy efforts.

Reporting directly to the Head of Policy and Advocacy, this position is pivotal in shaping WINGS' strategic policy initiatives, conducting research and analysis, and fostering engagement with policymakers, development agencies, and other stakeholders.

The position is fully remote, allowing candidates from anywhere to contribute to global development and philanthropy policy.

Key Responsibilities Policy and Strategic Support
  • Development and Implementation: Support the design and execution of WINGS' overarching policy and advocacy strategies, aligning efforts with broader organizational priorities and global developments.
  • Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Keep abreast of emerging policy and regulatory trends that affect philanthropy, development finance, and civil society environments worldwide. Conduct qualitative desk research to synthesize insights and produce actionable recommendations.
  • Research Translation: Convert complex research findings and programmatic evidence into clear policy insights, briefing notes, and advocacy demands that can influence policy discourse and decision-making.
  • Advocacy Coordination: Provide operational support to collective advocacy efforts, including managing working groups, consultations, and stakeholder engagement processes.
Stakeholder Engagement, Coordination, and Representation
  • Stakeholder Mapping: Identify and develop relationships with key actors, including policymakers, government agencies, multilateral organizations, and regional bodies.
  • External Engagement: Support WINGS' engagement in policy forums, high-level dialogues, and international coalitions. Assist in preparing briefing materials and background documentation for WINGS' participation.
  • Event Management: Lead or support advocacy-related events, meetings, and virtual or in person convenings to foster dialogue and promote WINGS' policy priorities.
  • Capacity Building: Assist in the development and delivery of capacity building initiatives aimed at enhancing members' policy engagement and advocacy skills.
Research, Knowledge Management, and Communications
  • Knowledge Coordination: Manage and coordinate the dissemination of research outputs, policy briefs, and advocacy lessons learned across the organization.
  • Communication: Translate technical policy concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences, including donors, policymakers, and civil society organizations.
  • Impact Documentation: Record and evaluate advocacy activities, documenting lessons learned, best practices, and outcomes to inform future initiatives.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications and Experience

This is a high-level consultancy role suitable for professionals with substantial experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and civil society engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in government, economics, international relations, international development, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 6-9 years of relevant experience in fiscal public policy, development finance, philanthropy, or civil society policy.
  • Proven track record of researching, monitoring, and analyzing policy or regulatory developments, and translating findings into strategic insights.
  • Experience working with civil society, philanthropy, donor agencies, or development cooperation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with global policy frameworks and regulatory environments affecting philanthropy and civil society sectors.
  • Experience in multistakeholder collaborations and financing for development.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, research, and synthesis skills to assess global policy trends.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling narratives from complex policy issues.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
  • Strategic thinker with problem solving abilities and a global mindset.

Compensation and Benefits

WINGS offers a competitive salary range of USD 30,000 to USD 40,000 per annum, based on the candidate's experience, location, and alignment with global compensation standards. Given the remote nature of the position, candidates from any geographic location are encouraged to apply.
