About the ProgrammeThis structured learnership combines classroom-based instruction with real-world emergency response experience. Successful candidates will gain valuable exposure to firefighting operations and community safety initiatives.
During the programme, learners will:- Participate in supervised firefighting and rescue operations
- Support emergency response services
- Take part in practical drills and formal assessments
- Assist with fire prevention and community awareness campaigns
- This programme lays a strong foundation for future careers in firefighting, disaster management, and public service.
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Hazmat Awareness certification
- Medical and physical fitness for strenuous duties
- No criminal record (background checks will apply)
- Applicants must also be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and in high-pressure environments.
- Willingness to undergo intensive training
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Discipline, integrity, and commitment to service
- Emotional resilience and ability to work under pressure
- Assist in firefighting and rescue operations under supervision
- Support fire prevention and community education programmes
- Maintain firefighting equipment and perform station duties
- Attend all required training sessions and drills
- Comply with occupational health and safety standards
- Support disaster management operations when required
- Medical fitness and physical assessments
- Psychometric testing
- Reference checks
Successful candidates will be required to sign a formal learner/firefighter training agreement in line with municipal policies.
