Our Offline Sales Division is looking for a Travel Consultant for the TravelBar Team!
(This role is planned to be based in Cape Town.)
About the RoleThe Travel Consultant is responsible for managing inbound customer enquiries across multiple channels (phone, email, and chat), converting these into bookings, and delivering a personalised, consultative service experience. The role requires strong commercial awareness, excellent product knowledge, and a high level of accountability for sales performance. This role is also ideal for a sales-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment and is passionate about travel and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Convert inbound enquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Apply effective sales and closing techniques to maximise conversion rates.
- Identify and execute upselling and cross-selling opportunities (flights, accommodation, packages).
- Guide customers confidently toward purchase decisions while driving urgency.
- Deliver a high-quality, personalised travel consultation experience.
- Understand customer needs and provide tailored travel solutions.
- Build trust through expert advice and strong product knowledge.
- Ensure a seamless end-to-end customer journey from enquiry to booking.
- Achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Take ownership of individual sales pipeline and performance.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy in bookings and customer information.
- Operate with a results-driven, disciplined, and proactive approach.
- Experience in using GDS systems (e.g. Amadeus) and internal tools to search, quote, and book travel is essential.
- Stay up to date with airline rules, fares, and industry trends.
- Ensure all bookings are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to Travelstart policies, processes, and service standards.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a sales or customer-facing role in travel.
- Experience in a target-driven or commission-based environment.
- Travel industry experience is required.
- Personal travel experience or a strong passion for travel is beneficial.
- Strong sales ability with a proven track record of conversion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident, persuasive, and customer-focused approach.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- High attention to detail and operational accuracy.Ability to multitask and manage high volumes of enquiries.
- Proficiency in booking systems (Amadeus advantageous).
