Systems Engineer - NOC
Job Description
Our client is hiring a Systems Engineer - NOC to monitor and maintain client infrastructure, applications, and security systems within a Network Operations Centre environment. This role focuses on proactive monitoring, incident response, and infrastructure stability to ensure consistent service delivery and operational performance.
You will play a key role in identifying potential issues early, responding to alerts efficiently, and collaborating with engineering teams to maintain reliable and secure client environments.

- Proactively monitor client infrastructure, applications, and security systems using NOC tools, refining rules to enhance alert accuracy.
- Perform initial triage and troubleshooting of alerts, providing first-level support and escalating as necessary.
- Coordinate with service desk and engineering teams to manage incidents and maintain detailed records in ticketing systems.
- Analyse alert trends to identify recurring issues and support proactive problem management.
- Generate performance reports and communicate updates on incidents and maintenance to internal teams and clients.
Highly motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 environment. Strong communication skills, customer-service focused, with excellent prioritisation and attention to detail. Self-starter capable of collaborating in multi-skilled teams, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience- Minimum 2+ years in an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment in a NOC role.
- Experience with Windows Server versions (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022).
- Knowledge of ITIL practices, including incident, request, and change management, with strong SLA adherence.
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, PKI.
- VMware vSphere 6.5+ or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+.
- Basic understanding of SAN/NAS storage, VLANs, routing, firewall behaviour, packet shaping.
- Microsoft Exchange 2016+.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as PRTG or N-Central.
- Scripting/automation with PowerShell or Python.
- Experience with Linux servers.
- Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, or Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate.
