Job Description

Site Manager - Mining Contracts Minimum Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in Mobile Crushing, Quarrying, or Aggregates industries
  • South African Citizen
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Mining Engineering preferred
  • Legal Liability Training (MHSA compliance)
  • Strong understanding of MHSA responsibilities and compliance requirements
  • Computer literacy in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as well as abroad, as may be required.
Key Responsibilities Legal & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with the applicable legislation, for example, the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
  • Maintain knowledge of legal liability responsibilities and enforce compliance on site
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to statutory requirements
  • Comp A certification and preferably an open cast blasting license. This is not, however, a disqualifying requirement; the candidate should be available & willing to obtain this qualification.
Safety Management
  • Accept responsibility for SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality)
  • Oversee daily safety inspections and enforce corrective actions
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety culture and compliance
  • Ensure staff are trained and competent in safety procedures
  • Assume legal liability as per legal appointments as may be required
Site Operations
  • Oversee all aspects of running a crushing site, including production, maintenance, and compliance
  • Monitor daily activities to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to standards
  • Ensure the quality of aggregates & products produced meets specifications
Maintenance Oversight
  • Plan and supervise maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is carried out to minimise downtime
  • Report and implement improvement plans for maintenance efficiency
Production & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and monitor weekly and monthly production programmes
  • Ensure production targets are met and exceeded where possible
  • Report on and implement continuous improvement initiatives in production, maintenance, safety, and compliance
Planning & Cost Control
  • Prepare contract programmes, requisition labour, materials, and equipment
  • Compile and supervise monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Authorise site expenditure and ensure profitability targets are achieved
Client & Employee Relations
  • Develop strong client relationships and ensure satisfaction with contract delivery
  • Maintain sound employee relations and adherence to HR/IR policies. Manage hours of people according to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) alongside HR/IR policies
