Job Description

Key Outputs
  • Manage and record incidents and complaints regarding e.g. injuries, customer complaints, employee complaints, refuse to work complaints, etc
  • Compile and maintain SHE improvement plan for Isando region
  • Identify and communicate all material risks, systems and processes
  • Maintain legal register and compile and implement action plans
  • Perform internal and external audits and planned task observations to maintain OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 accreditation
  • Implement all sustainability initiatives as per schedule
  • Implement and maintain incident management policy
  • Monitor and evaluate SHE officers' monthly reports
  • Compile and submit accurate periodical SHE reports
  • Development of Isando SHE improvement plan and participation in safety and sustainable development (S & SD) strategy. Ensure adherence and compliance with SHE guideline requirements and standards
  • Accountable for accreditation, implementation and maintenance of the EMS ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Accountable to align and manage Isando risk management processes
  • Coordinate and conduct site specific training and induction and SHE is training
  • Waste, water and energy management: manage consumption and reporting
  • Ensure incident investigation process is followed according to regulatory requirements
  • Provide advisory services to BWE on contractor management strategy and legal compliance
  • Leading direct reports regarding management and planning of long- and short-term objectives
  • Ensure improvement in natural resources consumption as measured by efficiency targets
  • Ensure monitoring programmes are in place and maintained
  • Ensure standard contractors' procedures are revised, consulted, fully implemented and maintained by the different regions
  • Space management and allocation
  • Service providers contract management
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in safety management
  • Certificate in OHSAS 18001 EMS ISO 14001
  • SAMTRAC
  • 8 to12 years' experience in a safety and risk environment
  • Experience of managing and developing staff
  • Knowledge on QA systems, best practice management and ISO requirements will be and added advantage
  • Judgement (includes decision making) (L2)

  • Drive, Energy and Initiative (results-focus) (L2)
