About this RoleIn pursuit of expanding its climate finance investment activities within Sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets, responsAbility is seeking a seasoned investment professional. This role offers an exciting opportunity to originate and structure debt transactions with key climate finance stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to refining and deploying direct lending strategies in the region, working closely with teams across various locations such as Cape Town, Mumbai, Tbilisi, and Zurich. The position calls for a proactive approach to enhance sector-specific networks while engaging in impactful negotiations and investment proposal presentations.
Responsibilities- Originate debt investment opportunities in climate finance sectors like renewable energy and energy efficiency.
- Lead end-to-end deal execution, encompassing sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, credit appraisal, and legal documentation.
- Structure and negotiate debt and debt-like transactions according to the prescribed risk/return parameters.
- Draft and present compelling investment proposals to decision-making bodies.
- Guide legal negotiations with the assistance of legal advisors.
- Deliver thematic inputs on market segments and emerging technologies.
- Expand networks with key stakeholders across the region.
- Support the strategic development of investments in Sub-Saharan Africa in partnership with essential stakeholders.
- Engage with teams based in multiple locales including Cape Town, Mumbai, Tbilisi, and Zurich.
- At least 8 years of investment experience within the climate finance sector.
- Advanced degree in economics, business administration, finance, or an equivalent area from a reputable institution.
- Demonstrated competence in deal experience specific to climate finance.
- Extensive expertise in leading due diligence in emerging markets.
- Established network among climate-technology companies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Proven business development skills with the ability to travel frequently across the region.
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation capabilities.
- Proficient in business English, with French being advantageous.
- Passionate about climate finance and impact investments with adaptability across cultures.
