Job Description

A client of ours is looking for a Senior Project Manager who is responsible for the end-to-end management and implementation of all client projects, from initial proposal and funding through to execution, monitoring, and close-out. This role requires strong project management, accounting, and HR expertise, with a specific focus on SETA registrations, compliance, administration, and stakeholder management. The incumbent will ensure that all client deliverables are met, documentation is complete and compliant, projects are financially viable, and implementation is executed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities 2.1 Project Planning & Implementation
  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle from initiation to close-out.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, risk registers, and implementation strategies.
  • Oversee multiple client projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Ensure seamless project execution across internal teams (HR, finance, administration, training).
2.2 Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage client expectations, communication, reporting, and escalation of risks or delays.
  • Support client sales processes by ensuring accurate project scoping, feasibility, and deliverables.
  • Maintain strong relationships with SETAs, service providers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead or support the preparation of project proposals, costing models, and funding applications.
  • Ensure projects are financially sound and aligned to approved budgets.
  • Monitor project expenditure and liaise with finance to ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and cost control.
  • Track funding approvals, claims, and disbursements in line with SETA and client requirements.
2.4 SETA Registration & Compliance
  • Oversee SETA registrations, learnerships, internships, skills programmes, and related interventions.
  • Ensure full compliance with SETA regulations, contractual requirements, and submission deadlines.
  • Manage all required SETA documentation, reporting, and evidence packs.
  • Work closely with HR and SETA administrators to ensure accurate learner data and compliance records.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR team on project-related recruitment and implementation.
2.5 Documentation & Quality Control
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted timeously.
  • Maintain structured digital project files and records.
  • Implement quality control checks to ensure audit-ready documentation at all times.
  • Prepare project status reports, progress updates, and close-out reports.
  • Utilise digital project management tools and systems to track progress, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Ensure real-time project visibility for management and stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve project systems, workflows, and reporting processes.
8.1 Qualifications:
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in:
    • Project Management
    • Accounting / Finance
    • Human Resources
    • Business Management
8.2 Experience:
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in senior project management.
  • SETA-related projects
  • HR implementation and recruitment coordination
  • Financial oversight and budgeting
  • Strong understanding of SETA legislation, compliance, and funding frameworks.
  • Advanced project planning and organisational skills
  • Strong financial and accounting acumen
  • In depth HR and SETA knowledge
  • Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and compliance
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
