Senior Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing engineering leadership for their respective project(s) through taking the lead on the strategy for setting out and onsite control. The Senior Engineer is the primary point of reference for QA, record keeping and production, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of quality procedures and requirements. Setting out experience (the process of transferring design data from drawings and coordinates onto the ground so the construction team knows where to build) so the construction team knows where to build. If it's wrong, everything that follows is wrong-so this is a big responsibility.
Qualification:Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Science Honours / Bachelor of Technology Civil / QS or Similar
4year degree non-negotiable on Critical Skills Permit - NQF8.
Minimum Requirements:Provide engineering expertise and technical support and guidance, working in collaboration with the Site Manager, Project Managers and Contracts Manager.
Oversee the work of Site and Graduate Engineers, delegating responsibility for the management of survey equipment.
Build strong working relationships with the Engineering team and sub-contractors.
Providing engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
Ensure setting out information is relevant and available in a format that can be easily communicated on site.
Ensure the engineering team complete as built surveys for key elements, providing analysis on key details across several interfaces to highlight potential problems.
Engaging and liaising with utility providers / coordinating on site, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies.
Ensure that foremen and operatives clearly understand the information provided.
Review detailed design, critique and communicate with designers to ensure adequate design is available for construction.
Review and create inspection and test plans, displaying advanced knowledge of key packages such as concrete, drainage, steelwork and brickwork.
Maintaining the site records and records of discussions/meetings with designers and subcontractors.
Control components of the non conformance procedure, creating and closing out non conformances in a timely manner.
Review and create method statements and risk assessments.
Take responsibility to ensure that all work is carried out to the highest Health and Safety standards, as well as Company's quality standards.
