Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, effective financial controls, and value adding financial insights to support operational excellence and strategic objectives. The role provides financial leadership across accounting, reporting, tax, systems, and governance in alignment with Kemin policies and standards with focus on Operations, Premix and East Africa Market.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting• Maintain full accountability for the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting of Business Units responsible for.• Oversee daily, monthly, and annual accounting processes, ensuring timely month end close.• Review trial balance accounts and provide variance analysis and financial commentary.• Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet, cash flow, and forecasts for Operations and Premix.• Compile and present monthly financial results, including written analysis and executive presentations.• Create WW reports and Board-level summaries according to group guidelines for Operations and Premix.
  • Planning, Forecasting & Performance• Coordinate annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.• Consolidate responsible BU budgets and forecasts and load into corporate systems.• Monitor performance against budget and forecast, highlighting risks and opportunities.• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision making for operations and Premix.
  • Statutory, Tax & Compliance• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, Companies Act, and company secretarial obligations for the Premix and Esat Africa Companies.• Manage all tax matters in accordance with local legislation and Kemin policies.• Coordinate the annual external audit process and act as primary liaison with auditors for the Premix and East Africa Companies.• Maintain compliance with financial SOPs, internal controls, and governance standards.
  • Manage Internal Audit process and implementation of IA recommendations.
  • Working Capital & Treasury• Manage working capital, payables, and inventory performance of the operations.• Accounts receivables for the Premix Business.
  • Costing, Margins & Business Cases• Oversee monthly and quarterly product costing activities.• Analyse and monitor sales margins and profitability of Premix Business.• Prepare and review business cases, PSA Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations for Operations and Premix.
  • Systems, Processes & Controls• Manage local implementation and ongoing maintenance of corporate finance systems, including:• M3 ERP Implementation for Premix Business.• PAD Costing system implementations on M3.• Implementation of Fixed Asset register on M3.• Planful consolidation tool.• Design, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes and internal control frameworks.• Ensure financial data integrity across all systems and reports.
  • People Leadership & Collaboration• Manage, and develop the finance team in line with Kemin's people first culture.• Act as a finance partner to operational and Premix teams.• Communicate financial information clearly to finance and non finance stakeholders.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • • Support corporate initiatives and projects as required.• Ensure adherence to Kemin policies, values, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Experience managing and developing teams.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or operational environment.
  • Experience with Sub Sahara tax and accounting jurisdictions
