Risk Manager page is loaded Risk Managerlocations: Randburgtime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todaytime left to apply: End Date: April 1, 2026 (6 days left to apply)job requisition id: R48062# Job Description The Integrated Risk Manager is a segment level second line role responsible for strengthening the design, integration, and assurance of the Non Financial Risk (NFR) programme across the Commercial segment. In addition to providing independent risk assurance and challenge, the role plays a key relationship management and enablement function for Business Unit and Super segment Risk Managers. The role ensures that deployed risk teams are aligned to group standards, supported in execution, constructively challenged, and effectively connected into group governance, while preserving the independence and objectivity of the second line. Key Responsibilities: 1. Integrated Non Financial Risk Oversight Provide group wide oversight of the NFR universe, ensuring consistent application of frameworks, standards, and methodologies across risk types (e.g. operational, compliance, conduct, fraud, IT/cyber, third party, ESG where applicable). Drive integration across NFR disciplines to enable a holistic view of risk exposure, interdependencies, and systemic risk drivers. Support the evolution of the NFR operating model in line with group, super segment and segment strategy and regulatory developments. Provide independent challenge to first line self assessments, KRIs, incident management, and remediation plans. Monitor and report on control effectiveness, highlighting high risk processes, ineffective controls and residual risk exposures. Ensure accurate recording, analysis and escalation of loss events, near misses, incidents and process breakdowns. Require and support line management in embedding operational risk requirements into business processes and procedures.2. Risk Assurance Assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, risk processes, and management practices. Oversee integrated monitoring plans, including control testing, findings validation and issue tracking. Perform CAATS and data driven monitoring to provide assurance over key risk areas and exposures. Continuously improve risk data quality, aggregation and reporting, ensuring reporting is accurate, complete and decision useful. Identify thematic issues, root causes, and control weaknesses, and track remediation effectiveness over time. Act as one of the interfaces with Internal Audit, supporting alignment between second line assurance and audit coverage.3. Governance, Reporting and Escalation Contribute to the Commercial governance forums, including preparation of NFR and assurance related insights. Produce clear, decision useful reporting on NFR maturity, control effectiveness, and emerging themes. Ensure timely escalation of material issues, systemic weaknesses, and residual risks outside appetite.4. Frameworks, Standards and Continuous Improvement Support the development and maintenance of NFR frameworks, policies, and minimum standards, with embedded assurance expectations. Drive continuous improvement in risk management capability, including tools, methodologies, and data quality. Leverage insights from incidents, losses, audit findings, and external events to inform framework enhancements.5. Stakeholder Enablement and Influence Facilitate collaboration across Business, Risk, Compliance SMEs, IT and Operations, with a strong customer centric focus. Draft and distribute risk communications, including guidelines, newsletters and thematic risk updates. Conduct ongoing industry and regulatory research relevant to the Commercial Banking portfolio. Partner with deployed risk teams, central functions, and business stakeholders to uplift risk capability and assurance maturity. Act as a trusted advisor on NFR and assurance matters, balancing challenge with practical guidance. Contribute to training, knowledge sharing, and community of practice initiatives within the NFR function.6. Change, Projects and New Initiatives Provide risk oversight and challenge for new products, projects, processes and systems. Review key project documentation and perform integrated risk assessments. Assess project risk levels in line with the Project Risk Management Framework and provide formal risk input and sign off where required. You will be an ideal candidate if you have (non-negotiable skills + knowledge): Relevant tertiary qualification (Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Law or related) Minimum 5-8 years' experience in Operational Risk, Compliance Risk or Banking Risk Management Professional certifications (e.g. FRM, PRM, CIA, CA(SA), ACAMS, CISA) advantageous Experience in a financial services industry would be advantageous Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, assurance methodologies, and combined assurance models.
