Research Technologist

Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe.

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Research Technologist at our Agri-Services division in Elgin, Grabouw. The successful candidate will work within the Research and Innovation Team and will play a key role with respect to project design, execution and reporting of results. The ideal candidate will need to have the ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy. The position will report to the Research and Innovation Manager.

• Evaluation of new cultivars
• Manage and facilitate horticultural inputs in evaluation sites
• Design and execution of trials
• Data analysis and reporting of results

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Horticulture or closely related field (postgraduate degree advantageous)
• Good horticultural knowledge of, particularly pome fruit production
• 2+ Years relevant work experience in a similar or related role
• Physically fit to perform duties that require physical labour
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft office
