Registered Nurse Theatre Qualified
Job Description
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (Theatre Qualified) to work at Life Carstenhof Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Manager. The successful candidate will assist the surgical team to perform procedures effectively while ensuring optimal patient care in line with hospital objectives.
ResponsibilitiesCritical Outputs:
- Ensure accurate charging by managing theatre clocking time.
- Ensure consignment stock, equipment and prosthesis is charged according to policy.
- Manage stock by participating in regular stock taking and controlling consignment stock in accordance with local hospital policy.
Affecting the functioning of theatre equipment and instrumentation:
- Ensure correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation by educating and supervising staff.
Providing Quality patient care:
- Obtain correct information pre operatively and visit the patient post operatively.
- Ensure patient comfort and assist the doctor during the surgical procedure.
Effective people management:
- Provide theatre-specific training and assess staff competence.
- Assist the Unit Manager in correctly monitoring normal and overtime hours.
- Ensure the theatre team works according to scope of practice.
- Give feedback to the unit manager to assess optimal performance.
Effective SHEQ management:
- Ensure the use of personal protective clothing and comply with ISO requirements.
- Ensure the disposal of medical waste to control infection.
Effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders:
- Attend review and consultative meetings to maintain healthy relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain a healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved issues to the unit manager.
- General Nursing Degree / Diploma.
- Registration with SANC.
- Postgraduate Qualification in Operating Theatre Techniques.
- Theatre scrubbing experience in all disciplines is essential.
- Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs.
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
