Job Description
An ICU Registered Nurse 2IC position is available at Life St. Dominic's Hospital, East London, reporting to Nithin Scaria, Unit Manager. The successful candidate will provide holistic and optimal quality nursing care to critically ill patients to maximize positive outcomes in line with the hospital's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities- Ensure professional, ethical practice in the unit.
- Provide and supervise nursing care in accordance with legislation and ethical codes governing nursing practice.
- Accept accountability and responsibility for own professional actions.
- Ensure the provision of competent, clinical nursing care by initiating and managing nursing care plans, coordinating and supervising the basic care activities of the healthcare team.
- Enhance patient satisfaction using management tools and quality improvement initiatives (e.g., CFS and Qe), and assist in the management of patient complaints.
- Build professional relationships with the multidisciplinary team, cooperating fully and independently delivering nursing care, and assist in the management of complaints from team members.
- Maintain an environment that is emotionally and physically safe by utilizing management tools and participating in proactive strategies (e.g., SHEQ and infection control).
- Contribute to business efficiency through cost effective patient care, inter departmental cooperation, and economic use of resources, supervising adherence to stock, case, and billing management.
- Coach and mentor staff by assisting in performance management, providing on the job education, and participating in staff recognition and reward strategies.
- General Nursing Degree / Diploma.
- Registration with SANC.
- ICU qualification / Critical Care course.
- Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs.
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry and its challenges and role players is an advantage.
- Computer proficiency is an advantage.
